Hard Lessons

One thing that hit me very suddenly yesterday was the way in which, espeically when in full time youth ministry, is that you have to keep your guard up at all times. If you don't have problems in an area of your life, then you shoudn't stop being careful in what you do regarding those areas.

On a lighter note, here is how I am getting on with my targets, two weeks in;

I have started reading the bible and have got probably half way through this weeks bible reading plan. no progress on the finishing of the book, but I feel like inspiration could strike at any moment. My accordian practice is not being very regular at the moment, primarilary because I have very little time at home at the moment. Arabic is progressing slowly, I know the words and responses to 'hello', 'Thankyou', 'How are you?', and 'cool'. I did speak german at conference. There were more german people there so I had more of a chance than at induction. As for updating this blog more often...

Another year.

The start of another year and the end of education. At least for this next year. Levaing training aside.

Yes, I am now a voluntary youth worker, and shall be until July next year. I am on a team of 11 called 'Urban Warriors', working in conjunction with SWYM (South West Youth Ministries), and going into Yeovil schools and taking RE lessons, running lunchtime clubs and giving lesson support.

For the past week all of us who have never done this before went to Weycroft Hall near Axeminster and had a week of training. Next week, everyone in SWYM is converging on Hill House near Bridgewater for a training confrence. Scary.

So what is in store for the next year? Only God knows that, but I have a few acheivable goals;

1. Read the Bible
I have tried to read this book in it's entierity a number of times and have yet to manage it. Surprising, seeing as it is a piddling little thing...

2. Finish my book
Remember that Book I'm writing? I want to finish it before I go to uni. A good start would be to work out some sort of ending.

3. Learn something really good on my accordian
...and perfect it as well.

4. Learn Arabic
Mahaba. Ahlan.
Having Palestinian friends could help there.

5. Speak German
There were three Germans last week and I didn't speak any German. Grrr!

6. Start updating this blog a little more often.
I hate annoying all my loyal fans.
